Workshop: A celebration of Shadow
Workshop: A celebration of Shadow
As we journey towards the shortest day, join me in a celebration of shadows and darkness, and of winter light.
In this immersive photography workshop we will be inspired by shadow in painting and film. We will look at how light and shadow create mood in a photograph to convey different meanings. And we will work together to create images that throw light into the darkness of mid-winter.
What to Expect:
Hands-on guidance with your DSLR or iPhone
Setting your camera to manual to control light and depth of field
Super simple exercises that will de-mystify depth of field and shutter speed
Simple use of Capture One and Photoshop and filters on the iPhone
Techniques for controlling light to create captivating portraits and still life
Tips and tricks in lighting still life and food photography
I have created this course on the DSLR but if you are on an iPhone that is fine too. I will also be explaining how to get the best out of the iPhone camera, where its strengths are and how to get around its weaknesses.
I will be leading a live demonstration creating different lighting set-ups with both natural light and a continuous lighting source.
You will have plenty of time to practice and will leave the day with a set of images as dark or as light as you want to be!
I will be your guide, leading you through techniques that harness shading with darkness and shooting with light.
This will be a warm and intimate gathering celebrating the depth of winter. Come join me on a day of creativity and collaboration in a supportive environment.
